Kolkata Metro's Blue line disrupts again, services resumes after more than an hour

Today, with the usual hustle to the office but the metro ride turned into a frustrating standstill— that's the nightmare of Kolkata commuters faced on the Blue Line this morning again. From 9 AM sharp, a sneaky signaling glitch kicked in at Dakshineswar station, suspended the services up and down the line. While trains chugged along normally from Baranagar southwards, the northern stretch ground to a complete halt for a grueling one hour and twenty minutes, until 10:20 AM when things finally clicked back to normal. Office-goers, students, and everyday travelers were left fuming at packed platforms, forced to scramble for buses or cabs or auto in the chaotic morning traffic.

As per reports, Kolkata Metro's unannounced signalling maintenance work disrupted the services. By the time services resumed the crowd spilled out from Dakshineswar station, weaving through alternative routes.It has been no end to the anger of commuters regarding the Blue Line (Dakshineswar-Shahid Khudiram route) where passengers are facing various problems like delayed services metro doors not closing, and standing for long periods at multiple stations. Although there was no such problem during the entire Pujas. However, after the Puja, the same old situation has returned. Now the Blue Line seems to be the one suffering. As a result, the passengers are very upset.

Commuters' pleas for better reliability ring louder than ever, highlighting how these hiccups aren't just delays—they're stealing precious time from busy lives.  Yet services are now humming steadily across the full Blue Line route currently. For now, Kolkata's metro magic flickers, but the call for upgrades grows urgent because every minute stalled is a story of shared struggle. With new lines sparkling nearby, it's high time the Blue Line catches up, turning frustration into the fluid flow it was meant to be.
