Kolkata's bustling and heritage Blue Line Metro turned into a commuter nightmare once more today morning even on a holiday, as unexpected delays shattered weekend plans for thousands of daily travelers. As per reports, repairs were going on by power blocking since yesterday night and the power block was not removed which affects the both Up and Down Metro services between Shahid Khudiram and Maidan.
On Sundays, Blue Line Metro starts from 9 a.m but today the services were suspended. While the stretch from Maidan to Dakshineswar, the services on both lines - up and down - were normal. The partial suspension sparked widespread grumbles from commuters. Passengers claims that upon arriving at the platform they found that the services are suspended and it is being announced that due to unavoidable reasons, service is not available between Shahid Khudiram to Maidan stations across both up and down lines.
The glitch highlighted deeper woes in a system that's seen non-stop hiccups over the past month.This isn't a one-off; With signaling maintenance yesterday services between Dakshineswar and Baranagar station were suspended for over an hour.
