A quiet Sunday morning in Pukuria village under Chapra police station in Nadia district turned tense when police recovered several fresh, active bombs stuffed inside a plastic jar behind a local resident’s house. Acting on a tip that bombs were being stored in the village, a team from Chapra police station officers carried out raids and zeroed in on the house of resident Sona Sheikh. The jar containing the powerful bombs was found hidden in the backyard, sending shock waves among villagers who never expected such dangerous items in their neighbourhood.
Police carefully removed the bombs and called the bomb disposal squad to make the area safe. Local people gathered in large numbers. Police probes about why bombs being stored here in this peaceful Pukuria village. Many fear old political rivalry or land disputes might be the reason. Officers have seized the bombs as evidence and taken Sona Sheikh into custody for questioning.
A detailed search of the village continued till late afternoon. Investigation is now on to find out who made the bombs, why they were stored there and whether more such hidden explosives exist in the area. Police say anyone found involved will face strict action. Villagers are relieved that the bombs were found before any harm was done but remain worried about safety until the full story comes out.
