Three students were killed and two others critically injured after a pool car carrying them from a private school lost control and fell into a pond. The vehicle was returning with five students when the driver allegedly jumped out and fled moments before the accident, according to locals.
Residents of the area immediately rescued all five students from the submerged vehicle and rushed them to a nearby hospital. Doctors declared three of them dead on arrival, while the remaining two are undergoing treatment in critical condition.
Police from Uluberia police station have started investigating the incident and are searching for the absconding driver.
