A horrific incident shocked the Vidyaharpur station area when a 16-year-old girl was run over by a train while sitting on the railway line. The victim, identified as Deepsa Pal from Kalikapur, was reportedly talking on her headphones and failed to notice the approaching train.
According to local sources, the Canning–Sealdah local was travelling towards Sealdah when the driver noticed the girl on the tracks but could not stop in time. The impact was devastating, leaving the girl’s body severely mutilated.
Family members said Deepsa had been staying at a relative’s house in the Vidyaharpur area for the past few days. The tragic accident occurred while she was reportedly engrossed in a conversation on her headphones, unable to hear the sound of the approaching train.
Upon receiving information, the Sonarpur Railway Police reached the spot, recovered the body, and sent it for post-mortem. The incident has left the locality in deep shock.
