Bengal Police arrests 12 Bangladeshi infiltrators in Murshidabad

In a major crackdown, Murshidabad's Islampur police swooped down on Char Gopalpur village under Hurshi Gram Panchayat and arrested 13 people, includes 12 Bangladeshi citizens and one Indian middleman. The Indian, identified as Saheb Ali, was allegedly running a safe house and helping Bangladeshis sneak into India without any papers. Acting on secret tip-offs, police caught everyone red-handed. None of the Bangladeshi nationals had passports, visas, or any legal travel documents.

When produced in Lalbagh ACJM court where all 13 were sent to 10 days of police custody for detailed questioning. As per reports, some Bangladeshi youths said they had crossed the border only to find work and a better life. They claimed Saheb Ali promised them jobs and shelter in return for money, but their dream quickly turned into handcuffs. Police say this is part of a bigger illegal entry network and more arrests may follow.

Officers are now digging deeper to find out how long this racket has been active, who else is involved, and how many more people may have entered India through this route. Border security force teams have been alerted, and local villagers are being questioned for any clues. Cases have been registered under relevant sections of the Foreigners Act and Passport Act.
