Madrasa job candidates marches to Bikash Bhawan, demands release of 7th SLST 2023 results

Hundreds of anxious madrasa teacher aspirants hit the streets today marching from Saltlake Karunamoyee to Bikash Bhawan under the banner of All Bengal Arabic Federation (ABAF) to demand the immediate release of results for the 7th SLST Madrasa recruitment 2023. The journey began over two years ago when the Madrasa Service Commission announced 1,729 posts on May 10, 2023. Candidates cleared the TET on January 28, 2024, and sat for the main written exam on January 19, 2025, only to watch their dreams freeze because of a High Court stay on the primary and upper-primary level results.

Tired of endless hearing dates and what they call deliberate delays by the commission, the job-seekers raised loud slogans, held banners, and refused to move until someone listens to their cry for justice. The protesters say the commission is dragging its feet on purpose. Even after court hearings are fixed, proper representation is missing and cases keep getting postponed, leaving thousands of qualified candidates in limbo while madrasa classrooms wait for teachers. Everyone holds placards that read “Justice Delayed is Justice Denied.” Many have been preparing for years, some supporting families on meagre savings, and the endless wait is pushing them to the edge.

The march turned emotional as several candidates broke down pleading with the government to feel their pain. As the rally reached Bikash Bhavan, police formed human chains but allowed few protestors to submit a memorandum. ABAF leaders warned that if the stay is not lifted soon and results are not published, bigger protests will follow across the state. For these young men and women standing under the winter sun with hope in their eyes, today’s march was not just a protest; it was a desperate shout to remind the authorities that behind every delayed result is a real life hanging in the balance.
