No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
The body of a worker was found hanging inside a shop in a multi-storey market in the Battala area of Bankra on Monday morning. The deceased, identified as Hamidul, worked at a polyclinic in the same locality and stayed overnight inside the premises.
According to local sources, when the polyclinic staff arrived in the morning, they found the door to Hamidul’s room locked from inside. After repeated attempts to contact him failed, the matter was reported to the Bankra outpost.
Police personnel reached the spot and broke down the locked door. They then recovered Hamidul’s hanging body from inside the shop. The discovery created shock and concern among workers and local residents in the Battala market area.
The body was sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Police have started an investigation and are speaking to locals and colleagues to understand the circumstances leading to the incident.
Authorities said they are examining all possible angles and will move forward based on the post-mortem report and preliminary findings.
