Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has cut IndiGo’s flights by 5%. At about 2,300 daily flights, it means a reduction of 115 flights. This comes after the Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu announced that the Centre will cut IndiGo's winter flight schedule and reallocate the vacated airport slots to other domestic carriers. This strong government action comes amid continued chaos, with nearly 500 IndiGo flights cancelled today alone, crippling travel across the country.
The worst-hit airports in today's disruption included major hubs, with 152 cancellations reported in Delhi and 121 in Bengaluru. Significant cancellations were also registered in other metropolitan and key cities, including Chennai (81), Hyderabad (58), Mumbai (31), Lucknow (26), and Ahmedabad (16). In light of this persistent crisis, the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) is scheduled to hold a crucial review meeting today with top officials from all airline operators to devise strategies to prevent a recurrence of such an operational collapse.
The Aviation Minister further provided an update on the stranded luggage situation, stating that 6,000 of the 9,000 passenger bags left behind have successfully been delivered. He assured the public that the remaining 3,000 bags are expected to reach the affected travelers by Tuesday morning. The core focus of the MoCA review meeting is to guarantee that the kind of massive operational disruptions witnessed across IndiGo’s network do not happen again.
