A quiet colony in West Bengal’s Malda district's Englishbazar area woke up to a chilling murder today when a young man named Kaushik Biswas was found lifeless in a deserted mango orchard, allegedly killed by his friend Souvik Mridha out of jealousy over his success. Family members say Kaushik, who had recently doing well in life, was called out by Souvik yesterday afternoon and did not returned.
Hours later, Souvik made a strange phone call to his family claiming Kaushik had suddenly fallen ill and fainted, leaving the family frantic. When relatives rushed to the Bagbari-Lakshmipur's mango orchard, they found a horrifying scene: Souvik sitting calmly with the unconscious Kaushik in his lap. They immediately carried him to a nearest nursing home and then to Malda Medical College Hospital, but doctors declared him brought dead.
The family alleges Souvik lured Kaushik, murdered him, and then staged the “illness” story to cover his crime. Locals are stunned that a friendship turned so deadly over nothing, just hwo a jealousy could let murder a friend. Englishbazar police started investigation. The body has been sent for post-mortem to confirm the exact cause of death.
