The Taratala Flyover in Kolkata will be completely closed to traffic for several days to allow the Public Works Department (PWD) to execute a load test. The closure will begin at 15:30 hrs on December 13, 2025, and will continue until 23:59 hrs on December 16, 2025. This major closure affects both carriageways of the flyover and is being undertaken in connection with the Execution of the Load Test on three spans. The closure notice has been issued by the PWD and Kolkata Police in the interest of the public.
Due to the complete shutdown of the flyover, the Kolkata Police and PWD have issued specific traffic advisories for commuters. The public is advised to avoid Taratala Crossing during this period. All traffic that would normally use the flyover will be barred from using the Taratala Flyover. Commuters are strongly advised to follow the diversion routes provided to minimize congestion and disruption.
Specific diversion routes have been set up for both Northbound and Southbound traffic. North-bound vehicles are advised to utilize either the Karunamoyee Bridge or Brien Roy Road West for their journey towards the North. Conversely, South-bound vehicles should use Durgapur Bridge or Hide Road or Nalini Ranjan Avenue, or Karunamoyee Bridge for their journey towards the South. This traffic advisory is in force for the full duration of the closure, until late hours of December 16, 2025.
