In a major administrative crackdown following the untoward incident at the Yuva Bharati Krirangan (Salt Lake Stadium), the State government has initiated strict action against several top officials. The inquiry committee has issued a show-cause notice to DGP Rajeev Kumar, Bidhannagar Commissioner of Police (CP) Mukesh Kumar, and Sports Department Secretary Rajesh Sinha, demanding a detailed report on the massive mismanagement within 24 hours.
Furthermore, immediate disciplinary action was taken against two officials directly involved with the venue’s administration. Salt Lake Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anish Sarkar (IPS) has been suspended pending the investigation, and Dev Kumar Nandan, the CEO of Salt Lake Stadium, has been removed from his post entirely. These stringent measures were formalized through a directive issued by the Chief Secretary from Nabanna (State Secretariat).
To ensure a thorough and unbiased investigation into the incident, a high-powered Special Investigation Team of Experts (SITE) has been constituted. This specialized team will be led by four senior IPS officers: Jawed Shamim, Piyush Pandey, Supratim Sarkar, and Murlidhar Sharma. This significant formation demonstrates the government's seriousness in addressing the security lapses and operational failures that occurred during the event at the stadium.
