ACB arrests Jharkhand education department clerk red handed while accepting bribe

In a successful anti-corruption drive, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Jharkhand caught a clerk from the education department red-handed while accepting a Rs 6,000 bribe in Jamtara district today. The accused, Saurav Kumar Sinha, works under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan in Nala block and had initially demanded Rs 8,000 to process and clear pending bills for a complainant. After negotiation, the amount was reduced to Rs 6000, but the vigilant complainant reported the matter, leading to a swift trap laid by the ACB team from Dumka.

The operation unfolded in the office itself, where Saurav Kumar Sinha was nabbed by ACB while accepting the cash. The complainant, Ras Bihari Jha, a CRP Supervisor from Nala block, had approached the ACB with a written complaint, prompting the immediate action. Senior officials oversaw the trap, ensuring all legal steps were followed on the spot before arresting the clerk and shifting proceedings to Dumka for further questioning.

This incident highlights ongoing efforts to curb corruption in government offices, especially in routine administrative tasks like bill clearances. Investigations continue to uncover if similar demands were made from others, reinforcing the message that bribery will face strict consequences.
