Abhishek Banerjee held a massive virtual meeting on Friday with over 5,000 party leaders to outline the roadmap for the 2026 Assembly elections. During the session, he unveiled the party's latest outreach campaign, 'Unnayan Panchali' (The Ballad of Development). Central to this campaign is a new battle cry for the party: "Manbe Na Haar, Aabar Trinamool Sarkar" (Will Not Accept Defeat, Trinamool Government Again), signaling a high-octane start to their election preparations.
Senior leader Subrata Bakshi opened the meeting by emphasizing the welfare schemes launched by the Mamata Banerjee government, which he claimed cover citizens from "birth to death." The 'Unnayan Panchali' will serve as a comprehensive report card of the state government’s achievements. Abhishek Banerjee asserted that TMC remains the only ruling party in India that consistently presents its work report to the public, unlike the BJP at the Centre, which he claimed failed to produce a report card in 2024.
A major point of discussion was the alleged blocking of ₹2 lakh crore in central funds meant for West Bengal. Abhishek praised the state government's resilience, stating that despite the financial blockade by the Centre, the state has successfully run its welfare projects on its own strength. He reminded leaders that while the 2021 report card was presented via the 'Bangadhwani Yatra,' the current version will be taken to every household through this new spiritual-sounding title to connect deeply with the masses.
To ensure the success of the campaign, Abhishek announced that the party would appoint 'District Coordinators' who will act as the "eyes and ears" of the leadership on the ground. The final list of these coordinators is scheduled to be announced tomorrow. This structural shift is designed to streamline communication between the grassroots and the top brass, ensuring that any local grievances are addressed before they impact the party's electoral prospects in 2026.
