A tragic road accident on New Year’s Eve morning claimed the life of a biker and left two others seriously injured near Dum Dum Park. The incident occurred when a speeding motorcycle lost control and rammed into a signal post while heading towards Laketown from the Baguiati Flyover.
All three riders were thrown off the bike and found lying in a pool of blood. They were rushed to hospital, where one of the bikers, identified as Sanju Patra, was declared dead. The other two sustained severe injuries and are currently undergoing treatment.
The accident has once again raised questions over reckless speeding on city roads. Despite the implementation of the government’s Safe Drive Save Life initiative, concerns remain over the administration’s ability to effectively curb dangerous driving, especially during festive periods.
