Abhishek Banerjee turned his Baruipur rally into a dramatic stage of protest against the Election Commission of India (ECI). In a unique move, Abhishek walked a specially constructed ramp alongside three individuals—Monirul Islam Molla, Harekrishna Giri, and Maya Das. He revealed that while these people were standing alive before the crowd, the ECI had officially declared them "dead" in the electoral rolls. He claimed there are at least 24 such individuals in South 24 Parganas alone who are alive but disenfranchised.
Targeting Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, whom he mockingly addressed as "Vanish Kumar," Abhishek accused the ECI of working as an agent for the BJP. He argued that the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process was being misused to strike off legitimate TMC supporters from the voter lists. "Have you ever seen dead people walking on a ramp? That is why I built this ramp—to show the Commission’s blindness," Abhishek thundered, drawing massive cheers from the supporters.
The TMC leader further extended his attack to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, challenging the BJP’s "double-engine" narrative. He asserted that South 24 Parganas remains the stronghold of the "change" that started in 2008. Abhishek set a clear target for the 2026 Assembly elections, stating that after winning Bhangar, the TMC must aim for a clean sweep of 31 out of 31 seats in the district. He warned that if the "fundamental rights" of voters are snatched, his party would take the protest to the heart of Delhi.
Abhishek concluded his speech with a fiery warning to the central authorities, stating that if the massive crowds present in Baruipur marched to the capital, leaders like Amit Shah and Gyanesh Kumar would be "swept away."
