Siris Adhikari says 'sorry for involvement with TMC' from BJP event

Veteran politician and former Kanthi MP Sisir Adhikari made a significant statement on Friday during a BJP political program in Bhagwanpur, Purba Medinipur. Reflecting on his long political career, the senior leader publically apologized, stating that joining the Trinamool Congress (TMC) was a "mistake" in his life. Adhikari, whose family has been a dominant force in Medinipur politics for decades, officially distanced himself from his former party while sharing the stage with BJP leadership.

During his address, Adhikari leveled serious allegations against the TMC-led state government regarding the handling of central funds. He claimed that during his tenure as a Member of Parliament, substantial funds were approved by the Central Government for various developmental projects in the district. However, he alleged that a section of the TMC leadership intentionally stalled these projects, leading to the return of the funds without any benefit reaching the common people.

The former Union Minister further intensified his attack by accusing the ruling party of widespread financial irregularities and the "looting" of natural resources. Without naming specific leaders, he alleged that thousands of crores of rupees are hidden away, earned through the illegal sale of sand and coal. He characterized the TMC as a party that has strayed from its roots to focus on personal enrichment at the cost of the state’s resources.

The Trinamool Congress was quick to dismiss these allegations as "baseless" and "opportunistic." Manav Paduwar, a TMC leader and Director of Works for the Purba Medinipur Zilla Parishad, reminded the public that the Adhikari family enjoyed the highest privileges and opportunities during their years with the TMC. He suggested that Sisir Adhikari’s sudden "apology" is merely a political strategy ahead of upcoming elections to favor his sons, who are now key figures in the BJP.
