The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process of the electoral roll has now reached the doorstep of Trinamool Congress MP and superstar actor Deepak Adhikari, popularly known as Dev. He has been served a notice to appear for an SIR hearing. Along with the MP, three other members of his family have also received similar summons to verify their documents and booth mapping details.
The development was confirmed by local councillor Mousumi Das, though the exact date and time for their appearance at the hearing center have not been disclosed yet. The notice has triggered a fresh wave of controversy within the political circles of West Bengal.
While the Election Commission maintains that these hearings are a routine part of cleaning up the voter list and ensuring correct booth mapping, the Trinamool Congress has labeled it as an act of deliberate harassment. Neither Dev nor his family members have issued an official reaction to the notice so far.
