BJP gherao 'New TMC' MLA Sandipan Saha's house in Entally, protest over 'cut money'
The West Bengal Scheduled Tribe Welfare Association on Tuesday gathered for a mega rally at Kolkata's Dharamtalla. Various marches were carried out from transit points towards Esplanade, causing severe traffic jams in the city. One side of the Brabourne road was completely shut for vehicular movement due to the adivasi rally. Massive jams occured on Howrah Bridge and adjoining roads.
Thousands of members from the tribal community gathered at Rani Rashmoni Avenue, Esplanade, to voice their long-standing grievances. The primary objective of the demonstration was to protest the alleged issuance of "fake" Scheduled Tribe certificates to non-tribal individuals, which the association claims is diluting the constitutional benefits meant for genuine indigenous people.
The protesters marched from various points, including Sealdah and Howrah, converging toward the city center. This caused significant traffic congestion across Dharmatala, Chittaranjan Avenue, and JL Nehru Road during the afternoon hours.
