Panic at Mau station after bomb threat on Kashi Express; police find no explosives

Panic gripped Mau railway junction on Tuesday morning after a call claimed that a bomb had been planted on the Kashi Express travelling from Gorakhpur to Mumbai. Security agencies immediately swung into action, prompting the evacuation of the train and a detailed inspection of all its coaches.

According to police officials, the control room received the threat call at around 9:30 am from an unknown number. The information was treated seriously, and a joint team of Mau police, Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) rushed to the station ahead of the train’s arrival.

As soon as the Kashi Express reached Mau station, passengers were safely deboarded and moved to a secure location, including waiting rooms, while the platform and surrounding areas were cordoned off as a precautionary measure. Bomb disposal squads were deployed, and each coach was thoroughly searched.

Superintendent of Police Elamaran said that no suspicious object or explosive material was found during the operation. He added that the threat appeared to be a hoax and that preliminary assessment suggested the call may have been made using an internet-based service.

Police said efforts are underway to trace the origin of the call, with surveillance teams working on technical inputs. Railway authorities stated that the train would be allowed to resume its journey only after all mandatory security checks were fully completed.
