The Bharatiya Janata Party has constituted a new district committee for the Hooghly organisational district, announcing a fresh set of office-bearers and executive members for the 2024–2027 term. The official list was released on Tuesday, with all appointments coming into effect immediately.
According to the announcement, Gautam Chatterjee has been appointed as the president of the Hooghly organisational district. The party also named eight vice-presidents, reflecting a broad leadership structure aimed at strengthening coordination across the district.
Those appointed as vice-presidents include Arupa Samanta, Swaraj Ghosh, Sumana Sarkar, Krishnendu De Sarkar, Shyamal Biswas, Partha Bhattacharya, Somnath Maitra and Gopal Upadhyay. The list also features four general secretaries: Suravi Chatterjee, Sandeep Sadhukhan, Sudipta Bhattacharya and Joy Raj Paul.
The party has assigned the role of district secretaries to Priya Patra, Milli Guha Thakurta, Somnath Das, Kaushik Das, Meeta Dhar, Soudip Ghosh, Tarapada Ghosh and Reena Pramanik. Sudipta Ganguly has been appointed treasurer, while Abhijit Roy Chowdhury will serve as office secretary.
In addition, Susanta Saha has been named media in-charge, Sonu Das social media in-charge and Sachin Singh IT in-charge. Party sources said the newly formed committee signals an organisational reset, with only six former office-bearers retained and a majority of new faces brought in to reinforce grassroots outreach and prepare for upcoming electoral challenges.
