"Smaller parties shouldn't be prioritized": Sudip Bandyopadhyay hits at TMC
Former West Bengal BJP president and Union Minister Dr Sukanta Majumdar on Wednesday launched a sharp counterattack against a senior Trinamool Congress leader, accusing him of spreading misleading propaganda and persistent falsehoods through public statements and social media posts.
In a post on social media platform X, Majumdar alleged that the Trinamool leader was indulging in what he described as “cheap stunt politics” and continuous lies. He said that despite repeated attempts by the leader and his supporters to distort facts, the truth cannot be concealed. Citing a proverb, he remarked that “a little knowledge is a dangerous thing” and warned that lies eventually collapse under scrutiny.
Majumdar clarified that the wife of Gautam Barman, a resident of South Dinajpur district, had herself publicly stated that she had informed him about her problem. He stressed that the woman never claimed she returned in tears due to not receiving any assurance of help, countering what he called a false narrative being circulated.
According to Majumdar, the woman had also clearly stated that she was informed about the necessary assistance at the very same time. He accused the Trinamool leadership of deliberately twisting statements to manufacture controversy and mislead the public.
The BJP leader further asserted that the two individuals mentioned in the controversy, who had gone to Maharashtra for work, were never booth presidents of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He said such claims stem from a lack of basic understanding of organisational structure and booth-level politics, adding that excessive cleverness often leads to self-inflicted embarrassment.
