Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
In a shocking incident in West Medinipur's Keshpur police station area, a young man, Shishir Mallick, was beaten to death after being caught in an objectionable situation with a married woman. The murder took place on December 23, following an altercation between Shishir and Urmila Hembram, who was reportedly caught by her husband, Sunil Hembram, in the presence of Shishir. The victim was severely beaten by Sunil and his accomplice, Santu Mallick.
The incident took place when Shishir visited Urmila's home during a local football tournament. Sunil, after learning about the incident from his friend Santu, reached home and, after an argument with his wife, allegedly attacked Shishir with Santu. The victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The body was later buried near the Kangsabati River in an attempt to conceal the crime.
The murder remained undiscovered until January 5, when locals spotted two dogs near the riverbank. Police dug up the area and recovered the body, which had been missing since December 23. Shishir's family had filed a missing person report on December 29. The post-mortem revealed that the cause of death was severe physical trauma.
Three individuals, Urmila Hembram, her husband Sunil Hembram, and Santu Mallick, were arrested in connection with the crime. On January 8, they were presented before the Medinipur court, where they were remanded to three days of police custody.
