No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
Two cases have been registered at the Shakespeare Sarani Police Station under the Kolkata Police following simultaneous Enforcement Directorate (ED) raids at the office of political consultancy firm I-PAC and the residence of its co-founder Pratik Jain. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday lodged complaints at two separate police stations in Kolkata in connection with the searches.
According to sources, one complaint was filed at the Shakespeare Sarani Police Station, while another was registered at the Electronic Complex Police Station under the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate. Notably, neither complaint names any ED official or personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), and both have been registered against unidentified persons.
Police records show that Case No. 03, dated January 8, 2026, was registered suo motu at Shakespeare Sarani Police Station under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Case No. 04, also dated January 8, 2026, was registered on the basis of Mamata Banerjee’s complaint under relevant BNS sections and provisions of the Information Technology Act, 2000.
