Muzaffarpur hospital blaze kills 3 patients, leaves 20 injured
A violent clash on Chandrakona road in West Bengal has led to a high-profile legal confrontation, with TMC filing an attempted murder complaint against opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari and ten BJP leaders, including his security personnel. The incident occurred while Adhikari was returning from a public meeting in Purulia on Saturday.
According to reports, BJP alleges that TMC supporters attacked Adhikari’s convoy and assaulted party workers. In response, Adhikari staged a sit-in outside the Chandrakona road police station late Saturday night and filed a formal complaint naming eight TMC workers for attempted murder. BJP has criticized the police for not invoking stringent legal provisions in the complaint.
On the other hand, TMC youth leader Debanjan Mandal claimed that BJP workers and Adhikari’s bodyguards initiated attacks during a peaceful protest. Mandal challenged Adhikari to release 360-degree camera footage from his vehicles to verify claims of petrol–diesel attacks, stating that the evidence would clarify the sequence of events.
District Police Superintendent Palash Chandra Dhali confirmed that written complaints from both parties have been received. FIRs have been registered based on the complaints, and an impartial investigation has been launched. Authorities have deployed a heavy police presence in the area, maintaining a tense but controlled environment.
The Chandrakona incident has intensified political tensions in the region, with both parties exchanging allegations of violence. Officials continue to monitor the situation closely to prevent further escalation while investigations proceed.
