Parliament gates shut, police fire tear gas at CJP protestors
Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas, frequently in the news, has witnessed the early launch of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly election campaign, with the Trinamool Congress beginning its outreach from Monday. The campaign is being led by local TMC MLA Sukumar Mahato and block president Dilip Mallick.
Party workers have started extensive wall writing across the Tushkhali area of Sandeshkhali, marking the party’s grassroots mobilisation. Notably, the wall messages do not mention the name of any specific candidate. Instead, they appeal to voters to ensure a decisive victory for the Trinamool Congress candidate in the 2026 Assembly elections.
Speaking to reporters, MLA Sukumar Mahato and block president Dilip Mallick said the identity of the candidate is not the priority at this stage. They stressed that the focus remains on strengthening the organisation and preparing the ground to secure a strong mandate for the party in the upcoming polls.
