Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Tuesday said the armed forces were fully prepared to launch ground operations if Pakistan had attempted any misadventure during Operation Sindoor, underlining that India has significantly expanded the scope for conventional military action.
Addressing a press conference, General Dwivedi said the army’s mobilisation during the 88-hour operation was such that any mistake by Pakistan would have been met with a ground offensive. He noted that earlier assessments suggested limited space for conventional operations due to the risk of rapid escalation.
The Army Chief said India’s actions during Operation Sindoor, particularly along Jammu and Kashmir, demonstrated a clear shift on the ground, adding that Indian forces eliminated around 100 Pakistani personnel during the operation.
