A nurse and a doctor who came in contact with Nipah virus patients have been admitted to Beliaghata ID Hospital for observation, amid growing concern over the infection. Both are being closely monitored, and their saliva samples have been collected as part of precautionary protocols.
The two nurses infected with the Nipah virus are currently admitted to a hospital in Barasat, North 24 Parganas. Reports indicate that both are in critical condition and are on ventilator support, prompting heightened vigilance among health authorities.
With the rise in concern, contact tracing has been initiated to identify individuals who may have been exposed to the infected patients. Through this process, the nurse and the doctor were identified as close contacts and were advised hospital admission for monitoring.
According to reports, the nurse was brought to Beliaghata ID Hospital from Burdwan, while the doctor, a resident of South 24 Parganas, had been in self-quarantine at home. After developing discomfort, he was shifted to the hospital as a precautionary step. Both remain under observation.
