Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav reunited with his estranged son and Janshakti Janata Dal chief Tej Pratap Yadav on Wednesday during the traditional ‘Dahi Chuda’ programme at his residence in Patna, drawing attention across political circles.
The event was attended by several prominent leaders, including Bihar Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, RLJP chief Pashupati Kumar Paras, and Bihar ministers such as Vijay Chaudhary and Sanjay Jha, among others.
Speaking to reporters, Tej Pratap Yadav said the occasion was marked by a grand feast and that he received his father’s blessings. He described the gathering as successful and said parents hold a divine place in one’s life, adding that everyone would come together on such occasions.
RLJP chief Pashupati Kumar Paras said festivals like Makar Sankranti often lead to new equations, suggesting that families and political relationships that were scattered could come together, indicating a possible new turn in Bihar’s politics.
The programme was held on the eve of Makar Sankranti, when ‘Dahi Chuda’ is traditionally prepared and shared. The dish, popular across Bihar, is associated with prosperity and togetherness, making the reunion symbolically significant.
