BJP gherao 'New TMC' MLA Sandipan Saha's house in Entally, protest over 'cut money'
Panic gripped the New Ghushik Colliery area under Ward No. 39 of the Asansol Municipal Corporation on Tuesday after an underground fire broke out in an abandoned mine. Thick smoke was seen rising from below the surface, alarming local residents and prompting immediate action by the authorities.
Upon receiving information, the administration responded swiftly, with colliery officials, ECL officials and fire department teams rushing to the site. Efforts were immediately initiated to assess the situation and bring the underground fire under control, given the potential risks associated with such incidents.
As a precautionary measure, the affected area is currently under close monitoring. According to reports, the fire erupted inside the closed mine for reasons not yet confirmed, causing smoke to spread underground. Considering the seriousness of the situation, the administration has remained on high alert.
