A 26-year-old man was intercepted late on January 20 near the AJC Bose Khidderpore flyover, leading to the recovery of an illegal firearm from his scooter. The accused, identified as Md Kamran Khan, was stopped below the flyover near pillar number KIR3/9/PP while riding his two-wheeler.
During a search of the scooter, police recovered an improvised country-made single-shot firearm loaded with one live cartridge from the vehicle’s storage compartment. The scooter was bearing registration number WB 10 2818. The accused is a resident of Ekbalpore Lane under the Ekbalpore police station area.
Following the seizure, a case was registered at Hastings police station under relevant sections of the Arms Act. The accused was taken into custody and further legal proceedings are underway, as per reports.
