Madarsa teachers march to Bikash Bhavan over CM Mamata’s 2021 promise

Madarsa teachers under the banner of the West Bengal Recognised Un-Aided Madarsa Teachers Association organised a procession to Bikash Bhavan in Salt Lake to submit a memorandum demanding implementation of a long-pending government assurance. The deputation programme was held to press for their demand that unaided madarsas be brought under full government aid.

The protesting teachers claimed that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had announced during the 2021 Assembly budget session that 235 unaided madarsas would be made fully aided. However, they alleged that the announcement has not yet been implemented, forcing teachers to continue their agitation across different parts of the state.

As part of the protest, the association took out a procession from Sealdah to Dharmatala before heading towards Bikash Bhavan. The teachers reiterated that they would continue their movement until concrete steps are taken to fulfil the promised upgradation of the madarsas.
