A tragic road accident on Sunday morning near Eco Park in Newtown claimed the life of a young man. The incident occurred around 7:00 am when the victim, identified as Trideep Chowdhury, was traveling on a scooter toward the Akankha intersection from the direction of Biswa Bangla Gate. The stretch between Eco Park Gate No. 1 and Gate No. 2, usually bustling with morning walkers and tourists, became the site of the fatal crash.
According to police sources, Trideep, a resident of the Baguiati area, was riding at a very high speed when he suddenly lost control of the two-wheeler. The scooter rammed into the road divider with such force that the youth was thrown into the air and hit the roadside railings. Eyewitnesses described a gruesome scene, noting that the impact was severe enough to cause immediate and heavy bleeding.
Upon receiving information, the Newtown police rushed to the spot and recovered the youth in a critical condition. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him "brought dead." Initial police investigations revealed that the youth was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, which led to fatal injuries to his head and chest.
