No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
A motorcyclist was killed in a road accident early Tuesday morning after a head-on collision with a high-speed dumper truck near the Balaipanda Vegetable Market gate under Moyna police station in Purba Medinipur. The accident occurred around 4:40 am, when the dumper and the motorcycle collided on the road, leaving the rider dead on the spot due to the impact.
Local residents said dense fog and poor visibility during the early hours may have contributed to the accident, making it difficult for drivers to react in time. The collision caused panic in the area, with people rushing to the spot after hearing the crash.
Moyna police reached the scene soon after being informed, recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. Both the dumper truck and the motorcycle were seized, and an investigation has been initiated to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
The identity of the deceased had not been established till the filing of this report. Police are attempting to trace the victim’s family by checking the motorcycle’s registration details and making inquiries in nearby localities, while residents have demanded stricter action against speeding vehicles near the market area.
