Political leaders across party lines expressed profound shock and grief following the death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar in a plane crash near Baramati. His sudden demise has triggered nationwide mourning, with leaders describing it as an irreparable loss to Maharashtra and Indian public life.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said Pawar’s death had left him deeply distressed, describing him as a dedicated public servant who worked tirelessly for the welfare of Maharashtra for over three decades. Shah said Pawar’s commitment to public service and his engagement on issues concerning the state would always be remembered.
President Droupadi Murmu termed the plane crash in Baramati extremely tragic and called Ajit Pawar’s untimely demise an irreparable loss. She said Pawar would be remembered for his significant contribution to Maharashtra’s development, particularly in the cooperative sector, and expressed deep condolences to his family, supporters and admirers.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi described the news of Pawar’s death along with his co-passengers as extremely painful. He said he stood with the people of Maharashtra in this moment of grief and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the Pawar family and loved ones.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari mourned Pawar’s passing as an unfortunate personal and political loss, calling him a close associate whose absence would be deeply felt. Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also expressed condolences, saying she stood with the Pawar family and Ajit Pawar’s supporters during this difficult time.
