Kolkata Police impose traffic restrictions on Madhyamik exam days | Check details

The Kolkata Police have announced traffic regulations across the city to ensure smooth conduct of the Secondary Examination (Madhyamik Pariksha), 2026. The restrictions will be enforced on February 2, 3, 6, 7, 9, 10, 11 and 12, aiming to prevent congestion and inconvenience to examinees and the general public.

As per the order issued by Commissioner of Police Manoj Kumar Verma, movement of all types of goods vehicles will be restricted within Kolkata Police jurisdiction, excluding Bhangar Division, from 6.00 am to 12.00 noon on the specified dates. The measures are being taken under relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, Calcutta Police Act and West Bengal Traffic Regulations Act.

Emergency and essential service vehicles have been exempted from the restrictions. Vehicles carrying LPG cylinders, petroleum products, oxygen, milk, medicines, vegetables, fruits, fish and CNG will be allowed to operate up to 8.00 am on all examination days.

The traffic police have also been authorised to regulate, divert or restrict vehicular movement in and around Madhyamik examination centres whenever required. These regulations will remain in force alongside existing traffic restrictions that do not conflict with the new order.
