Bidhannagar Mayor Krishna Chakraborty resigns, another massive blow to TMC
The Calcutta High Court has directed the police under the Port and Coastal Belt jurisdiction to ensure that no illegal firecrackers are burst during the observance of Shab-e-Barat. The court issued the instruction to maintain public safety and enforce existing regulations related to firecracker usage. The order places responsibility on the PCB police to remain vigilant and take necessary steps to prevent violations during the religious occasion. The court emphasized adherence to legal norms, especially in areas where complaints regarding illegal firecrackers have been reported in the past.
Shab-e-Barat is observed with prayers and night-long religious gatherings, and the court noted the need to maintain peace and order while respecting religious sentiments. The directive aims to balance observance of the occasion with concerns related to safety, noise and environmental regulations.
Police authorities have been asked to make appropriate arrangements and conduct checks to ensure compliance with the court’s order. The directive reinforces the judiciary’s continued focus on preventing unlawful activities during festivals and religious events.
