CM Mamata's Supreme Court appearance nothing but 'I-Pac branding exercise', alleges BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly criticised West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s move to approach the Supreme Court over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, calling it a “branding exercise” orchestrated by political consultancy firm I-PAC. BJP leaders alleged that the legal challenge was aimed more at political messaging than addressing genuine voter concerns.

Reacting to the plea, BJP representatives claimed that the SIR exercise is a routine electoral verification process meant to ensure transparency and accuracy in voter rolls. They accused the Trinamool Congress (TMC) of attempting to create confusion among voters by raising objections over alleged discrepancies in the revision process. The BJP further alleged that I-PAC, which has been associated with political campaign strategies in several elections, is guiding the narrative around the issue to generate political mileage for the ruling party in West Bengal. The party maintained that the voter verification exercise is being conducted as per established norms and under the supervision of constitutional authorities.

Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress has defended Banerjee’s decision to move the apex court, stating that the plea was filed to safeguard the rights of legitimate voters and prevent wrongful exclusions due to administrative errors. The matter is currently under consideration in the Supreme Court.
