The final budget session of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s third term began on a turbulent note on Monday, with political tension dominating the West Bengal Assembly from the very start. Soon after proceedings began, Governor CV Anand Bose interrupted the eight-page address prepared by the state cabinet without reading it in full, triggering uproar inside the House.
The Governor reached the Assembly around 12:30 pm after garlanding the statue of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar. As he entered the House, sloganeering erupted from both sides, with Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari leading chants of “Bharat Mata ki Jai,” while Trinamool Congress MLAs responded with slogans of “Jai Bangla,” creating a charged atmosphere.
