Punjab Aam Aadmi Party leader Lucky Oberoi was shot dead in a brutal attack while sitting inside his car in Jalandhar. The incident occurred outside a gurdwara and has sent shockwaves across the city, prompting a massive police crackdown.
According to police, the attack took place around 7:30 am, shortly after Oberoi sat inside his Mahindra Thar. CCTV footage from the spot captured the sequence of events, confirming the timing of the shooting. The assailants allegedly arrived on a Honda Activa and opened fire from both sides of the vehicle. Police officials said the attackers fired around 8 to 10 rounds using two sophisticated weapons. The bullets shattered the window panes of Oberoi’s SUV and also damaged another vehicle parked in the gurdwara parking area. Preliminary investigation suggests the miscreants had conducted a detailed recce and were fully aware of Oberoi’s daily routine of visiting the gurdwara.
Commissioner of Police Randhawa said police received information about the incident around 8 am, following which senior officers and forensic teams were rushed to the spot to collect crucial evidence. The entire city has been sealed, with nearly 15 checkpoints set up as part of a large-scale manhunt to trace the attackers.
