"Kolkata to get Water Metro connectivity," says Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari
India have suffered an early setback ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026, with fast bowler Harshit Rana ruled out of the tournament due to injury. Rana picked up the injury during India’s warm-up match against South Africa, forcing him to limp off the field mid-game.
Rana’s discomfort was evident as he bowled just one over, conceding 16 runs, before leaving the field. He is understood to be dealing with joint tenderness, raising concerns over his fitness ahead of the tournament opener against the USA on Saturday.
India captain Suryakumar Yadav admitted the situation looks worrying, saying Rana “does not look good” and the team would assess further before finalising combinations. He added that Rana’s absence would be a significant blow but stressed that the squad has sufficient bench strength.
India enter the 2026 T20 World Cup as defending champions after their unbeaten title run in 2024. The team will now aim to regroup quickly as they chase an unprecedented title defence in the men’s T20 World Cup.
