Six students were injured in a road accident on Friday while returning home after appearing for their secondary examination in the Hantal area under Jagatballavpur police station in Howrah district. One of the students sustained critical injuries and has been referred to Kolkata for advanced medical treatment.
According to reports, all the injured students are from Bargachia Priyanath School, and their examination centre was Hantal Bishalakshmi High School. After completing their history examination, the six students were travelling back home on two motorcycles. The accident occurred when one of the motorcycles lost control in the Hantal area and rammed into a roadside tree. The second motorcycle, which was following closely, also lost balance and crashed into the first vehicle. The impact of the collision caused panic among locals in the area.
Local residents rushed to the spot on hearing the sound of the crash and arranged immediate medical assistance for the injured students before shifting them to a nearby hospital. Police later reached the scene, initiated an investigation, and traffic movement in the area was temporarily affected following the incident.
