Student shoots classmate, then himself inside Punjab law college; CCTV captures 3-second horror

A first-year law student shot his female classmate and then turned the gun on himself inside a classroom at a private law college in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district on Monday morning, triggering panic on campus. The victim, Sandeep Kaur (20), died on the spot, while the accused, Prince Raj (20), remains critical under medical supervision.

The incident occurred just before lectures were to begin at the college in Usma village. CCTV footage from the classroom shows students settling in, with Sandeep initially moving away from Prince Raj and sitting with others near the front before returning to the last bench along with another classmate. Prince Raj is seen seated on the bench ahead of them.

Moments later, the footage shows Prince Raj rising from his seat, taking a weapon out of his bag and, within seconds, firing at Sandeep Kaur. He then steps forward and shoots himself. The entire sequence unfolds in barely three seconds, as a third student looks on in shock.

Hearing the gunshot, other students rush into the classroom, only to retreat after seeing both lying on the floor. The clip ends amid chaos, highlighting the suddenness and brutality of the act.

Police said the motive is still under investigation, though a “friendship angle” is being examined as a primary lead. Mobile phones of both students have been sent for forensic analysis. The victim’s family has questioned how a firearm was brought into an educational institution, raising serious concerns over campus security.
