A fire broke out on Monday morning in the New Admin Building adjacent to the Alipore Treasury Building, triggering panic among employees who had just begun arriving at their offices. The incident occurred at around 9:30 am, initially erupting on the fourth floor before spreading to the fifth floor of the building.
According to officials, the fire quickly spread to the panel room, causing alarm among staff present at the time. Employees rushed out of the building as a precautionary measure while emergency services were alerted immediately to prevent the situation from worsening. Three fire engines were rushed to the spot and firefighters worked for nearly 40 minutes to bring the blaze under control. Their timely response helped contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further to other sections of the administrative complex.
Officials confirmed that some files belonging to the forest department were damaged in the fire. However, there were no reports of casualties or major structural damage. Authorities are assessing the situation and further investigation into the cause of the fire is expected.
