Bengal Govt elevates IPS Ajay Mukund Ranade to DGP (Law and Order)
Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, alleging that the Speaker was avoiding discussion on the Budget and was not present during important parliamentary proceedings. He said such conduct undermines the functioning of the House and deprives elected representatives of the opportunity to raise key public issues.
Stressing that his party believes in a constructive and balanced approach, Banerjee said they respect the Chair and democratic institutions inspired by leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Subhas Chandra Bose, and Swami Vivekananda. However, he warned that if discussions continue to be blocked, a no-confidence motion against the Speaker and impeachment of the Chief Election Commissioner would remain the last available options.
