A 65-year-old retired man was found dead inside his residence at GD-91 in Salt Lake, with severe head injuries and his throat slit. The blood-soaked body was recovered from the second-floor bathroom of the house by police from South Bidhannagar Police Station. The body has been sent to RG Kar Hospital for postmortem examination.
According to local sources, the elderly man had not been seen since the day before yesterday. On Thursday morning, a neighbour tried calling him, but the phone kept ringing unanswered. Growing suspicious, the neighbour alerted the police. Officers reached the spot, broke open the door and discovered the body inside the bathroom.
Police said the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the initial postmortem report is received. An investigation has been initiated to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident.
