A 28-year-old contract worker died after allegedly slipping while carrying out painting work at Central Park Metro Depot, raising concerns over safety measures at the site. It has been alleged that no safety guard or harness was in place at the time of the incident.
The worker, a resident of Islampur in North Dinajpur, had climbed onto the roof of a bus inside the metro premises on Thursday night to paint it. During the work, he reportedly lost his balance and fell. Fellow workers immediately rushed him to Bidhannagar Sub-District Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
On Friday, his body was sent to R.G. Kar Hospital for post-mortem examination. The incident has triggered questions about why he was working at height without a safety harness and whether adequate precautions were ensured at the metro depot.
