The United Arab Emirates national cricket team clinched a five-wicket victory over Canada national cricket team in their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Group D fixture at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Friday. The win provided a much-needed boost for the UAE campaign after a disappointing earlier result.
Batting first, Canada were restricted to 150 for 7 in 20 overs, with senior Harsh Thaker top-scoring with a fighting 50 off 41 balls, backed by Navneet Dhaliwal’s 34. The Canada innings was disrupted early by a superb five-wicket haul by UAE pacer Junaid Siddique (5/35), who helped keep the total below par. Chasing 151, the UAE were paced by Aryansh Sharma, who played a dominating knock of 67 off 51 balls, anchoring the innings alongside explosive contributions from Sohaib Khan. The visitors reached 151 for 5 in 18.5 overs, sealing victory with more than an over to spare.
The win highlights UAE’s bowling depth and batting resilience under pressure. Siddique’s bowling performance marked one of the rare five-wicket hauls in the tournament, while the chase showcased UAE’s ability to confidently chase mid-range totals in challenging conditions.
