Bidhannagar Mayor Krishna Chakraborty resigns, another massive blow to TMC
In a rare example of honesty from West Bengal’s East Midnapore district, a father returned ₹60,000 received under the Bangla Awas Yojana after his son secured a government job with the Indian Railways. The incident was reported from Gholpukuria in Nandigram Block No. 2.
Subrata Mandal, son of Sushil Mandal, had been listed as a beneficiary under the State housing scheme, and the first installment of ₹60,000 for house construction was deposited into his bank account. The financial assistance was meant to support the family in building a house.
However, after Subrata was selected for a government job, his father decided that they no longer required the scheme’s assistance. Sushil Mandal personally visited the Nandigram-2 Block office and returned the entire first installment to the government treasury, citing improved financial stability following his son’s employment.
