The West Bengal NIOS DELEED Sangram Manch has called for a march to Bikash Bhavan followed by a sit-in protest, pressing for immediate implementation of court-directed appointments and reforms in the primary teacher recruitment process. The agitation centres on the demand for the appointment of 1,233 candidates in line with the Supreme Court’s directive and judgment in the matter.
Among the key issues raised is the alleged failure to appoint the 1,233 candidates within three months during the 2022 recruitment process despite clear court instructions. The forum has also demanded that NIOS DELEED candidates be allowed to participate in the ongoing recruitment process and appear for interviews, alleging that discriminatory rules have been framed that determine eligibility based on training institutions rather than merit.
The protestors have further flagged irregular conduct of TET examinations despite National Council for Teacher Education guidelines mandating regular tests each year. They have also questioned the decision to recruit for fewer vacancies despite the existence of more vacant posts, and raised concerns over the deteriorating condition of primary schools in the state. The march and sit-in aim to push for fair recruitment practices and immediate compliance with judicial directives.
